It's About to get REAL

Well, tomorrow is February 1st, which means tomorrow is the first day of our fast from make-up. All throughout January we have been joking back and forth between each other saying, "it's about to get real in room 302!" And now, this joke is about to become a reality.

As we both have been preparing for our fast, we have hit a wave of anxiety. Some of you who may read this might think, "it's only a month from make-up, how hard could it be?" When we wanted to do the challenge, we thought the same thing to ourselves, but as it is getting closer, we've realized a month is a long stretch. In the morning when we are feeling groggy we can't just put on make-up to make us feel better or if there are blemishes on our faces, we can't simply cover them up with foundation. Like we said, it's about to get real.

Although we are anxious as of right now, we are also very excited at the same time. We know that when we are dying to just "look nice" or "look pretty," we'll know that the Lord sees us to be no different. We are anxious in a sense to see what God is going to do and how our views of ourselves as godly women will change. We are thankful for each other as we keep one another accountable and we are also thankful for all the support we have gotten. This may seem as a small task to some, but to us, it's big.

Lord,
Give us strength this next month as we see ourselves how You see us everyday; created by You and beautiful in Your image.

Ripping Down Insecurities..

Hello Everyone!

My roommate, Bridget and I have decided to take on a little challenge for February 2012. For the entire month of February we will be going make up free. No foundation, no blush, no eyeshadow, no mascara, no eyeliner-NOTHING.

"Charm is DECEITFUL and beauty is VAIN, but a woman who FEARS the Lord is worthy to be praised." Proverbs 31:30

We have come to the conclusion that the world wants nothing more from us than to be perfect in every form. We want to go against that rule one step at a time, first with no make up. We have realized that make up covers up who we have been created to be, by God. Wearing make up may "enhance" features, but in reality, it is covering up our true beauty.

We know that this is going to be tough, which is why we are asking for your prayers as begin to prepare for our time of fasting from make up. We hope that people will not see us to "look different," but instead to see us for who we are.

Over the course of the month we will be blogging about our challenge and sharing our struggles and growth.

Lord,
Let us be strong and confident in who You have made us to be.
